De goede afloop – Anneke Brassinga
Number three in the series of recorded poetry is De goede afloop by Anneke Brassinga. On the hottest day of June, Anneke Brassinga records twenty-five poems in her living room. Torn from five different collections, taped to the table, and recited without pause. Brassinga sounds as if she’s planning to eat the microphone—and then your ears, one by one. She uses her mouth like the bell of a town crier; Brassinga’s poems bounce down the street, scrape the paint off the windowsills, and wear a path to your front door.
There was an air conditioner running, the neighbors were arguing, the ambulance route had been diverted, and a tap was dripping; all that noise has been swallowed up, ground down, and overgrown by the poet’s words. Listening to Brassinga’s poetry, people will clear out sheds, sharpen skates, herd camels, and plant new gardens.
“Poëzie is taalmuziek” (poetry is language-music) are the words from Piet Gerbrandy. They became the motto for this series. Keep your eyes and ears open and join the release party at OCCII in Amsterdam on September 29! Find the album here on Bandcamp.
