De lytse oarloch fan Japie Ossefet

A new track. A special Bandcamp release to gather money for war victims in Libanon.
This is the story of Max van Broekhoven who grew up in Rotterdam during WWII. He survived the bombardments but the war and everything that happened didn’t leave him alone during the rest of his life. I met Max early 2020. At the time, I was traveling with @tsead_bruinja and Rosa van Ederen through Frisian care homes to create portraits of the residents. Under the banner “Portraits in Poetry”—a project by Tsead as the Dutch Poet Laureate—we visited 11 locations across Friesland. Each time, we were paired with a resident who wanted to share their life story, so we could create a poetic, musical, or photographic portrait together.

Sadly, there are still many children growing up in times of war. It remains incomprehensible, but Max gave us something of immense value—something we can all hopefully learn from. All money made from this track will be donated to @beit.aam
